Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos

One year after Ryu's victory at the Temple of Darkness, another shadow looms over the world. Ashtar, the evil spirit secretly controlling the vanquished Jaquio, plans to conquer the Earth by opening the Gate of Darkness. Ryu and his powerful Dragon Sword are sought out once again by U.S special forces to save the abducted Irene and defeat Ashtar once and for all.

Ninja Gaiden II

This sequel is very similar to the original with some real improvements. Ryu is now able to climb up and down walls, even without the aid of a ladder. The play control is also more responsive for those split second movements and attacks. The combat isn't the only thing to get an upgrade. Many areas offer unique platforming challenges such as a mountain where the shifting wind will push you around, or a dark forest with terrain illuminated only by periodic lightning strikes.

In addition to your special abilities from the first Ninja Gaiden, Ryu now has the ability to clone himself with a body splitting technique. Combined with less frequent and slower moving enemies, this is one of the rare cases where the sequel may be easier than the original, but still plenty challenging especially in the later stages.
